MediBioSense VitalPatch technology is utilised to pre-determine chronic inflammatory flare-ups in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis (UC).
In this prospective study conducted at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, longitudinally evaluated heart rate variability (HRV) was found to be associated with UC symptoms, inflammation, and both perceived and physiological measures of stress. This is the first study to demonstrate such an association, identifying that significant changes in HRV metrics precede the development of a symptomatic or inflammatory flare.
